The Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) is one of several sophisticated measurement and modeling tools used in Diamond’s engineering department. The CMM provides highly accurate measurements, measuring the position and details of valve pockets, for example, to within 0.0001 inches. This laser scanner is used for modeling purposes, particularly for scanning piston domes, where it scans thousands of surface points in just a few minutes. They develop the highest-quality pistons in the industry using the latest CNC machinery and computer software, as well as providing unparalleled quality control.
