At the beginning of the development process for this product, we spent a lot of time considering the best way to build a Y-pipe, and here’s the result of our conclusions and development process! Our pipe has both excellent flow and low weight, achieved by combining lightweight mandrel-bent tubes with a high-quality, free-form 3D-designed cast joint between them. We then welded CNC-machined connections for the exhaust and breather pipes onto the casting. This construction adds a lot of performance but only a hint of extra weight. The weight of the do88 Performance Y-pipe is 1.52 kg (3.35 lb), the weight of the OEM plastic pipe is 1.38 kg (3.04 lb), and the weight of the competitor’s Performance cast pipe is 2.76 kg (6.08 lb)!
The pipes are then finished with a high-quality powder coating, making them look as good as they perform! You can choose between the more subtle semi-gloss black or a cool silver metallic finish.
The kit also includes two high-quality custom silicone hoses available in two different versions. The version you need depends on whether you’ll be installing the Y-pipe with the OEM intercoolers or the do88 Performance intercoolers. You can choose your hoses in the drop-down list above.
When it comes to airflow performance, our Y-pipe far surpasses the OEM Y-pipe with a 62% increase in flow at the same pressure drop!
Please note that OEM parts are designed for the power level for which the car was originally built. An increase in power can cause your stock Y-pipe to slow down your engine’s power. So, even on an engine with a software tune, the do88 performance Y-pipe will provide a performance increase over the OEM Y-pipe!
