The world’s first custom-fit air filter kit for the Porsche 992 Turbo and Turbo S!
Background
When the 992 generation was launched, Porsche abandoned the intercooler and air filter layout used in the previous 996, 997, and 991 generations. Each model presents its own challenges and preconditions. While the principle remains the same, the intercooler system layout is completely new on this platform compared to previous versions, and this also affects the air intake. Unlike previous versions, the 992 no longer has a common, single air filter for both turbochargers. Instead, the air filters themselves and their housings are located inside each rear fender. The air intakes for the filters are located in the decklid, shared with the intercooler air duct and the rear fender air intakes. From the outside, this solution is more thoughtful, but there’s definitely room for improvement: we’re giving you the DO88 intake kit!

Considerations
The efficiency of a turbocharged engine is directly influenced by the intake air temperature (IAT) and the backpressure in the system. A crucial, yet often overlooked, aspect is having sufficient airflow before the compressor to avoid pressure spikes. Less vacuum and cooler air allow the turbo to produce greater mass, which ultimately means more air in the intake: in short, this means significant power gains. There are huge power gains to be had with a good induction system! Over our years in this industry, with countless hours of evaluation and development, we’ve seen the consistent connection between IAT, sufficient airflow to the compressor, and the impact this has on output. With this knowledge in our pockets, it was clear to us from the start that we wanted to create a closed system that wasn’t affected by the surrounding temperature in the same way as an open air filter. We also saw the potential for an improvement that goes beyond what a panel filter tailored to the model offers.
The finished product
We began development by 3D scanning the entire designated area on the car. This allowed us to work sensibly with the products in our CAD environment using SolidWorks. The entire air filter system is optimized for airflow, and the radii and angles are reworked numerous times to achieve the best result! The finished product is verified with both Computer Flow Dynamics (CFD) and our Superflow SF1020 flow bench. Every effort is made to provide real, reliable data for you, the customer.
The do88 air intake kit is made from the highest quality vacuum-infused carbon fiber. To increase airflow, the kit truly utilizes all the available space within the car’s structure. The carbon housings are crafted to accommodate a large cone filter from the renowned BMC, using the finest filter media. The do88 intake kit replaces the entire OE air filter box and is a true performance upgrade!
This kit contains everything you need to install it on a Turbo or Turbo S. It is available in three different versions:
1. DO88 intake kit only with 66mm ports to the OE intake pipes.
2. DO88 intake kit with 66mm ports and 66mm DO88 intake pipes.
3. DO88 intake system with 80mm ports and 80mm inlet pipes.
All three options provide improved airflow; see diagram for details. The 80mm port model will take up more space in the inner fender, near the rear tires. Please take this into account when/if further modifications are made to the vehicle.
We are very proud of the performance upgrade this kit provides, especially on tuned cars that require more oxygen, but an otherwise strictly unmodified car will also see improvements from the improved airflow!
