– More air to the engine, less backpressure, and better airflow! Airflow at 0.075 bar / 1.09 psi Pressure drop: 258 CFM (206 CFM), 25% more! See diagram.
– 3D cast end tanks, freeform design, with 2 3/4″ (70 mm) hose connections.
– Custom-designed carbon fiber ambient air guides.
– Comes with high-quality silicone hoses and installation accessories.
This intercooler is part of our MERA selection. MERA, as in plus, means more cooling, better airflow, more performance. Simply put, MERA!
The intercoolers feature cast end tanks that distribute airflow very precisely throughout the core. This is very important as a good tank design will benefit both pressure drop and cooling efficiency. To fit an intercooler with the appropriate thickness for the job, a new upper ambient air redirection also had to be designed. This was designed in our 3D scanned environment to ensure a perfect fit on the air guides integrated into the vehicle as well as on the intercooler. To further eliminate bottlenecks, the intercooler kit The MERA features 70 mm (2 3/4 inch) intercooler connections to allow unrestricted airflow. This also means new hoses are included for each location, all 3D-designed with maximum airflow in mind. All hoses are CFD-tested to ensure this. The turbo outlet hoses are made of a specific high-temperature material, rated at 240Β°C (464Β°F). To take full advantage of all the heat-transferring ambient air, the carbon ducts are equipped with appropriate seals towards the body, forcing all air to pass through the core and not leak around it.
The intercooler kit comes with hoses adapted for OEM or DO88 (63.5 mm) Y-pipe. The only difference is the included hoses. Choose your version from the drop-down list above.
When it comes to performance, DO88 intercoolers significantly reduce intake temperatures! The graph shows the difference compared to OEM 996 units. Data is collected With an AIM race recorder, we performed 3 consecutive runs in immediate sequence. Full-throttle accelerations between 50-250 km/h (30-155 mph) in a Porsche 996 prepared for Stage 1. No recovery time in between, just full traction.
The test was conducted as follows:
First, 3 runs were performed with the car equipped with the OEM intercooler. Stop, quickly swap the parts to the DO88 intercoolers. Shakedown for a few minutes, and then 3 runs performed exactly the same way as with the OEM parts. The decrease in inlet air temperature is significant, with a peak delta of 41Β°C (105.8Β°F) (see graph!)
Cooling is important, as is airflow. After many hours of development, perfecting the end tanks, and choosing a core to meet our requirements, the result is a much more efficient intercooler in terms of heat transfer and airflow. Using our Superflow SF-1020 Probench, Airflow is verified as a complete system, with both inlet and outlet hoses, for both OEM 996 intercoolers and high-performance do88 intercoolers.
What you see is what you get: do88 MERA performance!
