Description

do88

do88 high-performance radiator for the intercooler system, designed for easy installation in your BMW M2C/M3/M4 F8X
The S55 turbo engine powering the BMW M2C/M3/M4 F8X uses a top-mounted water-cooled intercooler instead of a “normal” air-cooled intercooler. The coolant in this system has its own separate cooling circuit, consisting of two parallel-connected radiators and a pump. The larger of these two parallel-connected radiators is located at the front of the center cooling module, while the second, smaller one is located in front of the right wheel arch.

The reduction in water temperature in this circuit directly translates to improved charge air cooling (lower IAT). Therefore, it is important to have high-performance radiators in this system to keep the IAT as low and stable as possible during hard driving. Throughout all the testing conducted during the development of the BMW F8X M2C/M3/M4, we clearly see how peak power directly equates to Intake Air Temperature (IAT).

The final design features a 32mm thick, single-row core with multi-channel tubing, retaining the OE-style dual-pass flow layout, allowing coolant to flow through the core twice before exiting the radiator. Our design extends the core height by 166mm and thickness by 5mm, resulting in a 48% increase in frontal area and a whopping 75% increase in core volume.

Significant benefits of the do88 radiator (comparison numbers to stock):
– Increased core volume: 8498cm3 (4843cm3), 75% larger!
– Increased frontal area: 2656cm2 (1794cm2), 48% larger!
– Lower post-intercooler air temperature under the same conditions: 34Β°C (39Β°C), 5Β°C lower!*
– High-efficiency core with 7mm fin height and multi-slot design.
– Multi-channel center pipes.

* Measured at 240 km/h during full-throttle acceleration from 0 to 240 km/h on the air track. Both tests were performed on the same day under the same conditions.
