Upgrade your engine with the do88 INTERCOOLER HOSE kit for the B48/B46 found in the BMW 230i, 330i, and 430i, among many others!

BMW often uses plastic for OEM INTERCOOLER HOSES. This choice, while cost-effective for the manufacturer, isn’t always suitable for managing pressurized air. As the plastic ages or your car’s boost increases, these hoses are prone to failure.

A faulty INTERCOOLER HOSE can result in a reduction in power, known as limp-home mode, or the car may shut down completely, requiring the hose to be replaced before it can restart. This could potentially leave you stranded.

There are many aftermarket charge hose kits available for the B48 engine, but in our opinion, most are poorly designed. Many competitors use a basic design: two hoses joined by a straight silicone hose and reducer. They clearly haven’t understood the importance of managing thermal movement in this system. This design is almost guaranteed to cause hose bursting problems because it doesn’t allow for movement due to temperature changes. A common solution is to tighten the clamps more, but in most cases, this will cause the hoses to break because it deforms the clamping surface.

But at do88, we took a different approach. It was clear to us that the system needed a flexible connection between the two hoses that could handle thermal expansion/contraction. Our solution is a 3-humped, aramid-reinforced silicone hose. This hose design allows for movement in any direction without bending or stressing the connections. To further strengthen our design, the hoses are equipped with CNC-machined 6063 hose connection ends with a 3mm wall thickness. These hose connections won’t deform even with over-tightened hose clamps.

Our charging hoses not only improve durability, but also, of course, improve performance. We’ve designed our hoses with a larger diameter and smooth mandrel bends to improve performance. The lower tube measures 60 mm (2 3/8″) and the upper tube 76 mm (3″), effectively reducing pressure drop and reducing turbulence.

Our INTERCOOLER PIPE, which connects to the throttle body via its CNC-machined flange, has two 1/8 NPT ports suitable for methanol injection or outputs such as a boost pressure sensor. We also provide two 1/8 NPT plugs for those who choose not to use these ports.
