High-performance do88 intercooler designed for easy installation in your Toyota Yaris GR!
Benefits of the do88 high-performance intercooler:
– Larger core volume: 13,971 cm3 vs. 7,320 cm3, 91% larger!
– Larger active cooling area: 2,451 cm2 vs. 913 cm2, 168% larger!
– Larger inlet/outlet connections: 63 mm (2.5β) vs. 45 mm (1.3β), 95% larger area!
– Air flow at 0.175 bar/2.54 psi pressure drop: 300 CFM (226 CFM), 33% more!
– Peak power gain of 26 HP with the do88 turbo inlet! Measured on cars with TTE400 turbos, Syvecs ECUs, etc.
– Lower post-intercooler air temperature under the same conditions: 25Β°C (50Β°C), 25Β°C lower!
This intercooler is designed to offer the best cooling efficiency under demanding conditions. During the development of this intercooler, we were determined to increase the frontal cooling area of ββthe core. A larger frontal cooling area significantly improves cooling across the entire speed range, along with a properly designed center and end tank. A shallow/thick intercooler, which is a much simpler aftermarket design for this car, usually only offers better cooling at high speeds (high air velocity is required to push cooling air through a thick core). We considered our approach the only option for this car, as it will also be used on technical tracks with lower average speeds.
To increase the frontal cooling area of ββthe intercooler, the bumper beam must be moved forward, otherwise the intercooler will not fit behind it. Therefore, we designed two special spacers that move the bumper beam forward; These spacers also provide optimal mounting points for our intercooler.
What many unfortunately overlook when developing a new intercooler is the need for ambient air guides. The air passages around the intercooler should not be left open, as much of the cooling air will flow through them instead of passing through the core. We include two air guides that close these air passages.
To improve charge air flow (reduce pressure drop), we increased the inlet/outlet hose connection on our intercooler from 45 mm (1 ΒΎ”) to 63 mm (2 Β½”), as the original connections are very restrictive. To ensure our intercooler fits the original intercooler hoses, we include two specially designed silicone hoses.
The 91% increase in core volume and 168% increase in frontal area are an achievement we are proud of (Tube & Fin Core 57 mm thick). It’s a noticeable difference. Noticeable, to say the least. The engine pulls better across the entire rev range and withstands repeated full-throttle revs without building up heat. The perception that an intercooler is something to be upgraded only after a major engine tune-up is false, but it’s widespread among customers and drivers. On hot Swedish summer days, during repeated revving, spirited driving, or even ordinary driving in a warmer climate, it doesn’t take excessive engine effort to generate dangerously high intake temperatures, even on a standard, untuned car engine. The cooling capacity of an OEM intercooler is often lower, which will impact power draw. Heat must be dissipated, or the promised output will be reduced when you start applying throttle. With our intercooler, you can rest assured that power is always there.
Some of the original plastic air ducts must be trimmed (see installation instructions) to accommodate our significantly larger intercooler. The foam on the bumper beam is removed during installation. The foam will not fit when the bumper beam is moved forward.
This product comes with everything needed for easy installation. Bolts, washers, and installation instructions are included.
