The BMW X3 M40i’s Eventuri intake was developed to provide a less restrictive flow path for the turbo, maintaining low inlet temperatures.
In the M40i, the intake system’s proximity to the exhaust manifold presents a challenge, rapidly heating the engine bay. High temperatures compromise engine performance, necessitating a solution that ensures minimum intake air temperatures (IAT). Our solution includes a fully sealed intake system, designed to counteract heat absorption and prevent the turbo from drawing in hot air.
Additionally, our sealed airbox features a heat shield coated in gold reflective material, minimizing radiative heat transfer from the exhaust manifold. To optimize airflow volume, we maximized the airbox’s dimensions, incorporating a recess to seamlessly accommodate the strut brace.
Replacing the stock convoluted intake tube, our design employs a pre-preg carbon tube, boasting a much larger internal volume with a 109mm (4.3″) internal diameter that tapers seamlessly to fit the turbo inlet, ensuring an uninterrupted airflow path. Complementing this design is a custom high-flow dry filter, rigorously tested for ISO-certified filtration performance and boasting a larger filtration area than the stock filter.
